Striving For Excellence

WE EXIST:

Seeking the Father

The Father that we seek is the same One who revealed Himself in the person of Jesus Christ. Seeking the Father is not an activity—it is an attitude.God has put within each of us the natural desire to worship. Unfortunately, many people do not realize that it is God we are to worship and not power, prestige, cars, clothes, cash or human heroes. But there are requirements; Jesus said we are to worship (seek) the Father “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). Genuine worship requires the truth of God’s Word (St. John 17:17) and being filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). This should be a moment-by-moment surrender to the will of God as He is revealed in Scripture. This is perfectly summarized in Paul’s admonition to “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord” (Colossians 3:16).

Seeking the Father must be a heartfelt expression of spontaneous praise that flows naturally from the wellspring of a biblically informed mind without any need of manipulation. David put it this way, “My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer” (Psalms 45:1). True worshippers will have a consuming adoration of the majesty and glory of God—an adoration that despises drawing even the slightest attention to self. God has been good to all men and women and deserves our adoration. With this in mind, every effort must be made to ensure the accuracy of right doctrine in order to produce the attitudes and actions of right living.

WE EXIST:
Saving the Lost

At Charity Mission / Fairview Full Gospel Baptist Church, we believe the real, authentic Christian life is all about saving the lost. “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). Jesus came to earth to reconcile mankind back to God. All humans are lost, therefore all are in need of salvation. Jesus’ primary goal was to restore the relationship that was broken between man and God as a result of sin. Everything He did on earth had this mission in mind. 2 Corinthians 5:18, "All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. Matthew 28:19-20 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. (NKJV)

We accept this responsibility and commit ourselves to cooperating with the Holy Spirit in the fulfilling of this commission. As the Church of Jesus Christ, we are sent to win the lost. We know that personal sin is a devastating reality which separates God and humankind. And it is our duty, calling, and privilege to tell all those of every tongue and nation that God loves them and wants to establish a personal relationship with them through Jesus Christ our Lord. We have been commanded to reach out to the lost through personal and public evangelism. Evangelism is therefore a personal, proactive outreach that will be strongly encouraged by this ministry.

WE EXIST:
Striving For Excellence

Our church strives to be a ministry of excellence. Because God is excellent in everything that He does, His people should pursue excellence in every endeavor. Charity Mission / Fairview FGBC intends to be a community where a heart for pursuing excellence characterizes every area of activity. The pursuit of excellence is at the heart of all ministries, but we also strive to understand these goals from an even broader perspective that integrates them with high standards for personal, moral, and spiritual development, all as part of the single task of growth toward maturity in Christ. This broad goal could be summed up as development of excellence in the Christian mind, an overall attitude and outlook that values establishing and pursuing high standards as part of devotion to the glory of God.

The journey toward excellence begins with a personal vision for achievement and a commitment before God to pursue it. The vision unfolds as it is translated into action through personal development, study, experimentation, and growing skill. Ultimately, the pursuit is rewarded with the fruit of high achievement.
